Workshop on Scientific Paper Writing scheduled to be held at RUHS,Jaipur on 19 and 20 November'2016

Overview of Workshop on Scientific Writing
Scientific Writing is an art which needs the understanding of key elements of presentation, analysis and discussion. This includes developing a proposal/ grant application to undertake research, writing a report after completion of the study and writing a manuscript for a scientific journal. Communication of research findings is essential for progress of any scientific process. An important criterion that determines the quality of research is the reputation of the journal in which it is published. Publishing in highly rated journals is, therefore, important to the scientists as well as their research institutions. In order to publish in good journals, not only the quality of data and analysis is of significance, the role of the written text as well as crispness of presentation of the results of the research work is equally important. Publishing research results is an integral part of a Researcher’s Professional life. However, writing is not every researcher’s favorite activity, and getting a paper published can be a very tedious and time-consuming process. Fortunately, many of the obstacles along the writing and publishing path can be avoided by following some simple guidelines and practices. (Location shifted)

The Workshop basically aims at helping the participants to develop their writing and presentation skills, enhance their confidence to publish in good quality journals and present their work to international audiences. The course will also cover various other aspects of scientific publications including manuscript submission, ethical issues, peer-review, post-review revision, proof corrections, skills required as potential reviewers of manuscripts and online and open-access publications.

Writing scientific articles requires adequate knowledge about where to publish and what to publish. Important aspects include appropriate presentation of data, its analysis, literature review, discussion of findings as how this paper advances the scientific understanding of a particular aspect specially in the context of public health and clinical usage, what is still left to be done and what to do next. A clear and transparent reporting of research finding is essential to avoid misinterpretation of the study results. This workshop is intended to impart researchers, mainly the faculty of medical institutions affiliated to Rajasthan University of Health Sciences, with basic skills in scientific writing and get introduced to standard reporting guidelines for publishing findings from different areas of medicine and related health sciences.

The core objective of the workshop is to equip the researchers with set of skills for improving their capacity in research writing for converting their data into publishable material of high quality in the form of articles, journals and books.
