Guest Lectures

Medical Imaging Equipment - 50 Years of Progress, Related Education, Impact on Medicine and Current Trends

Guest Lecture on MEDICAL IMAGING EQUIPMENT – 50 YEARS OF PROGRESS, RELATED EDUCATION, IMPACT ON MEDICINE AND CURRENT Trends .Resource faculty for the guest lecture was Prof. Slavik Tabakov, FIPEM, FHEA, FIOMP, President IOMP ,King’s College London, UK and Visiting Faculty of Rajasthan University of Health Sciences, Jaipur. Dr Tabakov started his talk with a background of past 50 years medical physics and engineering invented and introduced in clinical practice new imaging methods, which revolutionised medical diagnostics, and now form the basis of contemporary medicine. Prof. Slavik Tabakov introduced the concept of X-ray Image Intensifier, Gamma Camera, Ultrasound imaging, Computed Tomography, Spiral Computed Tomography and 3D imaging, Impedance Tomography, EPID (electronic portal imaging device), Hybrid Imaging Systems: SPECT/CT, PET/CT, PET/MR
2005-2015 proved to create New Horizons of Medical Imaging Methods: R angiography, Molecular Imaging and Personalised medicine, Tractography – Diffusion Imaging (DTI)
The collaboration between medicine, physics and other sciences as holistic approach is considered as one of the most successful inter-professional collaborations of 20th century, which is now basis of todays medicine The revolutionary progress of medical imaging methods will be driver of the future modelling in medicine in 21st century.Development of Education in medical physics and engineering is of primary importance for the clinical application of medical equipment.
